Galveston Mardi Gras Half Marathon

4-5 February 2012

rain 45 °F

Ordinarily this would have been a beautiful route - but this weekend it rained, and rained....and rained. The four hour drive exhausted our windshield wipers and the entire night before the rain came down. We fueled up at the Saltgrass Steakhouse that was right down the seawall from our Best Western.

Overall the race was one of my favorites. The shirt was the only negative - it was a neon green long sleeve shirt with a brown flour de lis on the front. The race coordinators redeemed themselves with the race medal which was attached to a string of purple beeds. The post race food was world class with taco cabana breakfast tacos, pizza, cookies and soda. Nothing could be don about the terrible wind and rain but the route along the seawall with views of the ocean was still calming.

When we got back to the hotel Emma was mad at us for leaving her but she forgave us when we took a nap with her before leaving.
