Shell collecting

Shell collecting is another activity good to do when diving is closed. Pebble beach is so named because of the sound the water makes when it rolls over the small rocks.

The beach has a lot of tiny shells to collect. Its not such a great beach to lay on though. When we sat on our towels we felt like we were slowly cooking on hot coals.

The River

Diving is closed this weekend so Keith rented a bit more of a posh boat than we usually have. The seats are cushioned and there is music. We took the time to cruise slowly down the river and if you closed your eyes for a minute you could almost think you were in the amazon or something.

Most of the wildlife we could see where birds. I love the pelicans and had a good time taking photos of them.

The end of the river for us is marked with a halt sign by order of the marines but there is plenty of graffiti on the wall indicating people don't always follow that rule.

We passed a guy fishing with a bow and arrow. That was quite different but he was actually catching huge fish - he showed us a popano.

After our tour of the river we went by a place called hospital caye where Abby, Debbie and Steve took the opportunity to jump off the pier.

Promotion Day

1 March 2013

sunny 85 °F

Today was a nervous day for me but luckily I had Curt to keep me calm and get things ready for the promotion. The big event was held at the clinic at lunch time so we could have a cookout.

Curt promoted me and after the serious stuff was done we got to have a great lunch. The medics were great in helping set everything up, cooking and even getting me a suprise cake. Curt gave them photos and the cake had one of my favorite pictures of Curt and I and also my little girl, Emma.

After the ceremony and lunch Curt and I went out by the beaches and lighthouse to take a few photos.

Later a bonfire at Cable Beach was planned. My friend, Keith got the fire permit and pallets and Abby had a great time lighting the fire. It was a good time with friends a co-workers coming and going for drinks and smores.
